Hookplay makes athletic merch for the people who actually move.
We started Hookplay because most “sports apparel” is either built for the highlight reel or built to be cheap. We’re for everyone in the middle — the 5am runners, the lifters who count reps in their head, the rec-league hookers and forward-row hackers, the hikers, climbers, paddlers, and everyone who’d rather sweat through it than scroll through it.
How we make things
Every Hookplay piece is print-on-demand, made to order in the United States, then shipped direct from our fulfillment partners. That means:
- No deadstock. We don’t print 10,000 hoodies in a warehouse hoping they sell. We print yours when you order it.
- No landfill. The fashion industry burns and buries 92 million tonnes of textile waste a year. PoD eliminates the speculative-overproduction part of that.
- Better fabric for the same price. The dollars we don’t spend on warehousing go into heavier-weight tees, double-needle stitching, and inks that actually survive the wash.
What we make
Athletic-grade tees, structured caps, full-zip hoodies, and the occasional run of accessories. The core line is built around fabric and fit you can train in — not graphics-tee polyester that turns into a sponge by the second mile.
Sizing runs XS through 3XL across most styles. We list the actual chest/length measurements on every product page, because “fits true to size” is how brands lie politely.
Who we are
Hookplay is a small, independent operation registered in Delaware, USA. There’s no parent corporation, no holding company, no influencer house. Just a few people who got tired of athletic gear that’s either $9 and disposable or $90 and made of marketing.
The name comes from rugby — a hook is the position that lives in the scrum, taking the hits and feeding the ball back out. Not glamorous, not on the highlight reel. The work that makes the rest of the play work. That’s the bar we’re setting for ourselves.
Returns, shipping, the boring stuff
- 30-day returns on stock items in original condition. Personalized/custom items are final-sale by their nature, but we’ll replace defects.
- Free U.S. shipping on orders over $50. Most orders ship from a U.S. facility within 3–5 business days of order placement (PoD adds production time vs. stocked goods).
- International: we ship to Canada and most EU countries. Customs/duties are the buyer’s responsibility — we have no control over what your customs office charges.
